And about the loop of mono, he tries to save six from the thin man, he is betrayed, he become the thin man. The futur six of her loop goes to the maw as a kid and kill her old self (without knowing it) and so on. Six is the lady on the maw, she first went on the maw to feed herself to calm her hunger (shadow end of LN2). Mono has an impact on what become six and six has an impact on what become mono. The loops are connected, one does not exist without the other. I'll be interested to see if LN2 DLC or future games feature the Squirming Abyss in any way, or serve to further expand the cosmology of the world. Whatever Six's reasons, I still think that the Squirming Abyss does represent a higher power for evil in the Little Nightmares world, far beyond major antagonists like the Lady, the Pretender, the Thin Man, or any of the other distorted humanoid monsters we've seen so far. The other reasons I've seen proposed are Six wanting revenge on Mono for what he did as the Thin Man (which is both cruel and short-sighted, since rescuing Mono would have stopped him becoming the Thin Man in the first place) or that Six wanted to keep Mono safe from her unnatural hunger (though dropping him into a deep black pit is a funny way of protecting someone). Admittedly, this idea about Six's motivations is mostly just me looking for a non-completely awful reason for her actions. Those events have to be preserved so that Six can learn what she needs to learn to fight the Abyss in the future. She had to leave Mono behind to become the Thin Man, so he would capture her and bring her to the Abyss to be transformed, so Mono's past self would come rescue her and restore her. Which means the only way she could gain this knowledge is if events play out in a stable loop as seen in the game. The only way she could gain this knowledge was if the Thin Man captured her, the Abyss distorted her, and then Mono restored her. Perhaps when Six was distorted and then restored to her normal form, she gained some insight into the nature of the Squirming Abyss, learned some way to fight it and its influence. I definitely think the Abyss is what distorted Six after she was brought to the Signal Tower by the Thin Man. Maybe it's responsible for every horrible monster in this world, one way or another. It distorted Mono into the Thin Man, and then used him to spread its influence throughout the Pale City via the Signal Tower, distorting it and its inhabitants into its current state. I think the Squirming Abyss itself is the force that twists and distorts people into monsters. The Squirming Abyss goes on a rampage after Mono restores Six from her distorted nightmare form, and when Mono is dropped the Abyss seems to close around him while he sits upon the chair, where he eventually is seen growing and distorting into the Thin Man. I think that this game actually gives us a glimpse at the true evil at work in the world, or at least in the Pale City - what I've seen called the Squirming Abyss, the hideous mass of flesh and eyes encountered within the Signal Tower. I have one possible explanation for Six dropping Mono for non-sinister reasons (i.e., spite, revenge, etc.) Now that people are seeing the ending for Little Nightmares 2, there's speculation on the reason for its events, particularly regarding why Six left Mono behind the way she did.
